Chemistry Grading Policies
Grading Policies
50% TestsSummative assessments given at the end of each of the 12 planned units. Proficiency in Chemistry requires not only knowledge of material, but also the ability to apply that knowledge to new and different situations
|
40% Quizzes / LabsShort summative quizzes and exit tickets (approx 5 - 10 questions) will be regularly given based on recent material covered in class. Labs provide students the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency and gain additional skills to prepare them for college labs.

Grade Recovery Contract
If a student is at risk of academic failure they will be put on a contract to meet certain requirements then a grade recovery assignment will be assigned. If a student is at risk of failing, the student should schedule an appointment with the teacher.
- If the absence is approved in advance and/or if the work is assigned by the teacher in advance, all make-up work, including tests assigned for the day of return, is due upon the student's return to school.
- If the make-up work has not been assigned in advance, for absences of one (1) to three (3) days, the student will have one day for each day absent. For absences exceeding three (3) days, the student may have two (2) days for each day absent to make up work. Special consideration will be given in the case of extended absences due to injury or chronic illness.
- The Chemistry PLT will accept late work up until 1 week before the quarter ends.
